Nitish Kafle.

React developer, seven+ years in. I've shipped NFT platforms, airline booking and login flows, and a few things that got weird in interesting ways. Scroll down to see how I got here.

The start

Where it started

Wilmington University · BSc CS

Studied Computer Science while shipping production code at the same time — graduated in 2022 but had been building for real clients for two years before the degree was done. That overlap is still how I think about learning.

  • HTML & CSSSemantic markup and cascade first. Most "UI framework problems" trace back to markup decisions made early.
  • JavaScriptThe event loop and call stack before any framework. Understanding the runtime made everything built on top of it easier to debug.
  • Computer ScienceAlgorithms, data structures, and the discipline of thinking in problems before reaching for a solution.
  • iOS Development · CodepathCompleted Codepath's iOS course — Swift, UIKit, and shipping a real app to the App Store.
  • Android · Codepath Tech FellowReturned as a Tech Fellow after completing the iOS track — mentored students through the Android curriculum.

2020

Consultant Software Developer

TribalScale · Contract · Vendor: Takeo Tech LLC

Delivered full-stack applications across multiple client engagements. Working at pace in cross-functional product teams is where strong opinions about code quality and accessibility first took root.

  • ReactComponent composition, hooks, and performance patterns — the start of what became seven years of depth in the library.
  • Node.jsAPI design, middleware, and the server side of a full-stack JavaScript codebase.
  • AWSEC2, S3, SQS — enough infrastructure to ship without getting in trouble.
  • AccessibilityAccessible design as a development practice, not a post-launch audit. That philosophy stuck.

2021

NBA Top Shot · NFL All Day

Dapper Labs · Contract · Vendor: Takeo Tech LLC

Built consumer-facing UIs for two of the world's highest-traffic NFT platforms. The challenge wasn't the blockchain — it was making real-time distributed state feel instant and reliable to millions of users.

  • TypeScriptStrict mode, discriminated unions, and types as a design tool — the codebase demanded it.
  • Next.jsServer rendering and routing at scale — the first time I worked at truly global traffic levels.
  • GraphQLQuery-driven data fetching across a distributed backend — typed, composable, and faster to debug than REST.
  • XStateState machines for UI that had to reflect real-time blockchain state reliably. Diagrams as code.
  • WebGLRendering collectible animations at 60 fps. When CSS runs out of road, you go closer to the metal.

2022

Senior Software Engineer

United Airlines · Contract · Vendor: Takeo Tech LLC

Joined the web engineering team serving millions of travellers. Took ownership of the gap between product requirements and shipped code — complex state, high traffic, and WCAG compliance on every screen.

  • React & ReduxRedux Saga for async, Reselect for derived state, React Intl for internationalisation — state management at airline scale.
  • JavaScript PropTypesStrict mode across the whole codebase. PropTypes as the first line of code review.
  • Accessibility (ADA/WCAG)NVDA, VoiceOver, axe DevTools and BrowserStack — screen reader testing on every feature, not just the compliance audit.
  • AnalyticsGoogle Analytics and Quantum Metrics to measure real-user impact, not just unit test coverage.
05

2024

Lead Software Engineer

United Airlines · Contract · Vendor: Takeo Tech LLC

Promoted to lead after two years as senior. Now setting technical direction, driving architectural decisions, and owning the engineering standards for a team building systems at airline scale.

  • Technical leadershipArchitecture reviews, cross-functional alignment, and the harder work of making a team faster rather than just writing faster code personally.
  • Performance engineeringWebpack optimisation, lazy loading, and Dynatrace real-user monitoring. If it is slow, it is broken.
  • CI/CDTeamCity and GitHub Actions pipelines — the infrastructure that makes confident shipping possible.
  • SecurityVeraCode platform and Ping Identity integration. Security as a first-class engineering concern, not an afterthought.
